David Nolen served as Hope Center Indy's founding associate director from March 2016 to May 31, 2019.

The Legacy of

David G Nolen

David Nolen graduated from Morristown High School in 2009. He earned his degree in Christian Leadership at Barclay College in Kansas and furthered his education at Indianapolis School of Supernatural Ministry, where he continued to lead and teach.

He was a life member of Brookville Road Community Church and attended Overflow Church in Carmel. David was a big fan of sports. He participated in cross country and basketball in junior high and high school. He played basketball for two years in college and was an assistant basketball coach at Morristown High School for a season. David also enjoyed watching the Colts, IU Basketball, and the Pacers with family and friends.

In 2016, David was 26 years old, but with wisdom beyond his age, he stood in faith with his father Hubert that God would provide a campus for Hope Center Indy. It was David’s faith and boldness that compelled them to make an offer on our current campus. David wanted everyone to experience God’s love, and he became passionate about helping women coming out of human trafficking.

As he witnessed God do miracles and provide for each need at Hope Center Indy, he often said, “God loves to show off!” Many were blessed to hear David share the vision of the Hope Center on a tour. His wit and fun personality combined with his great passion for how God was working at the Hope Center made him a favorite tour guide and speaker for many.

David began having heart palpitations in September 2018. After going to the doctor, he discovered that he had a birth defect in his aortic valve and would likely need surgery. David prayed with family and friends that God would heal him, and he persevered in his leadership at the Hope Center and his plans to marry the love of his life, Stephanie Nolen (Kluger). On November 4, 2018, David and Stephanie were married in Hope Center's Freedom Barn. It was a beautiful day of celebration for everyone.

In January, the doctors told David he would need to have open heart surgery soon, and he had the surgery on May 17, 2019. Tragically, David passed away in his sleep on May 31, 2019 due to unexpected surgical complications. May 31, 2019 was a devastating day for Stephanie, the Nolen family, the Hope Center family, and all of David’s friends, but May 31, 2019 was also the day David was promoted to heaven and got see Jesus face to face.

David’s biggest passion was leading others to experience the presence and love of God. He was a respected leader with a servant’s heart. David had a strong prophetic gifting, and was bold to share God’s heart with people. He impacted many lives with his kindness, love, and compassion. His family and friends enjoyed his wit and sense of humor. David loved to make people laugh, and he made everyone smile. His life was a reflection of his love for Jesus.

Many of us are still hurting as we deeply miss David’s friendship, leadership, and presence at Hope Center Indy. David inspired us to live out God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). We are honored to continue his legacy and the ministry he loved so deeply: imparting hope and healing to every heart.
