Through Redefined, our work training program and social enterprise, we track two key metrics each week: resident hours worked and training hours completed.
While these numbers help us measure the tangible impact of our work program, they ultimately point to the story of restoration and lives being rebuilt through meaningful work. Over the past several months, we have seen something encouraging:
Redefined Work Program Impact Through Resident Hours
December 2025: 477 hours
January 2026: 253 hours
February 2026: 268 hours
March 2026: 322 hours
April 2026 so far: 143 hours
In December, we saw a significant increase as more residents stepped into work opportunities across our businesses over the holidays and extended hours. January and March reflected a natural slowdown following the holiday season. Last month and through April so far, we are seeing a strong rise again. This tells us the Redefined work program impact is building sustainable pathways where residents can consistently engage in job training and employment over time, not just sometimes.
Did you know…
As a nonprofit social enterprise, Redefined first covers the cost of job training and employment for residents through its own revenue. This means it sustains its own operations, pays its workers, and then gives the remaining proceeds back to Hope Center Indy to help support our programs. This is a model that creates positive opportunity and reinvests it into lasting impact!
While employment is the goal for every resident, there is a season of training and preparation that comes first.
For many survivors, stepping into work too soon can feel overwhelming at the beginning. Some may not yet feel ready for social interactions or may need time to build physical, emotional, and mental stamina. In these early stages, work is sometimes introduced in environments where residents can work at a pace that feels safe and unhurried.

Training begins with interviews and shadowing, where residents gain a sense of what working in the community will feel like before stepping fully into a role. As they continue learning and discovering or rediscovering their skills and interests, they are offered positions that align with those strengths. Over time, as confidence builds, residents are able to transition into more public roles, including working on the sales floor, in the coffee shop, or greenhouse.
Residential Training Hours
February 2026: 69 hours
March 2026: 68 hours
April 2026 so far: 21 hours
The variation in training hours month to month reflects the flexibility of this program. Each resident moves at a different pace, balancing their continued focus on healing and wellbeing, responsibilities or appointments, and progression in their program.
"It's special working there because at the end of the day, you're loved, valued, appreciated, whether you're on the clock or not." - Resident
As this growth continues, we are also preparing for something new and exciting!

On Wednesday, April 22 from 4-8pm, we will be celebrating the grand opening of our new Redefined retail location at Castleton Square Mall. This space will be open for approximately 10 months, and we see it as a great opportunity to reach a new audience, connect with individuals who may have never heard about our mission, and share the heart of what we do through everyday interactions.

We praise the Lord for this season and the ways He is expanding our ability to serve our residents. Yet beyond the numbers, we are most grateful for the earthly and eternal growth happening in our residents' lives as well as our staff and volunteers'.
This work would not be possible without a community that continues to pray, give, and believe that healing is possible. We are grateful for you!
